EDMS - Straubing

General

Welcome to Eggenfelden, the largest city and economic center of the district Rottal-Inn in Lower Bavaria. The Verkehrslandeplatz is situated 3 km southwest of the city and with it's over 20.000 flight movements annually, is among the busiest airfields in Bavaria in real life. It is generously sized, easy to approach and its instrument procedures and capability to accept aircrafts with a maximum weight of 50 t make it a reliable option in the triangle between Munich, Salzburg and Passau.wip

The following types of operation are officially approved at Eggenfelden:Straubing:
IFR, VFR, NVFR
Aircraft (ACNPCN 46)40), helicopters (ACNPCN 46)40), motorgliders, gliders, motorgliders, UL (with radio), parachute jumping.

EggenfeldenStraubing is an uncontrolled airport. If you are not yet familiar with AFIS procedures, we strongly recommend to inform yourself prior to flying to or from Eggenfelden as the concept is probably quite different from what you are used to in other areas of VATSIM.

IFR Departure

Takeoff

Since EggenfeldenStraubing is uncontrolled, the AFISO won't issue a takeoff clearance. Instead, takeoffs are conducted at pilot's discretion. However, you might be assigned a release window during which you have to depart (inform ATC immediately if you are unable to depart within this window). IFR departures enter controlled airspace when passing 1000 ft AGL.

Auto-handoff

EggenfeldenStraubing utilizes an auto-handoff procedure for departures; the AFISO will not hand off departures to the approach controller. The current airborne frequency will always be given by the AFISO.

Report passing 38003600 ft to EggenfeldenStraubing Information and contact München Radar on 129.132.555 after departure!

IFR Arrival

STAR

There are no STARs for EggenfeldenStraubing. All inbounds should plan a route to VOR/DME RDG ("Roding") or waypoint BIBAGSTAUB, which isare the initial approach fixfixes for the RNAV approach to runway 26.27. Tactically the controller might also offer you a direct into the approach procedure via one of the MExxxMSxxx waypoints - you are expected to continue the procedure from this waypoint onwards if cleared for the approach.

Approach

EggenfeldenStraubing has an RNAV approach only for runway 2627 and limited to aircraft performance A and B. In case runway 0809 is in use, expect to perform the RNAV approach runway 2627 followed by visual circling to runway 08.09. The circling has to be performed southnorth of the aerodrome only and is not to be confused with the traffic circuitcircuits which isare on both sides of the same side.airfield. For more details on circling approaches, e.g on what to do on a missed approach from a circling approach, check the SKYbrary.

There is a restriction for maximum 250 KIAS below FL100 as you will be in airspace class E. This means you should also stay on the lookout for VFR traffic unknown to the controller.

Landing

The AFISO will provide neither sequencing nor separation. It is your responsibility as the pilot to coordinate with other traffic on frequency. IFR has no priority over VFR.

You will not receive a landing clearance as the airport is uncontrolled. Instead, landings are conducted at pilot's discretion.
