The following types of operation are officially approved at Bayreuth:Bamberg:
IFR, VFR, NVFR
Aircraft (10.000 kg MPW), helicopters,helicopters (5700 kg MPW), motorgliders, gliders, UL.UL, balloon.
BayreuthBamberg-Breitenau is an uncontrolled airport. If you are not yet familiar with AFIS procedures, we strongly recommend to inform yourself prior to flying to or from BayreuthBamberg as the concept is probably quite different from what you are used to in other areas of VATSIM.

Top-down Procedures
Approach and Center stations do not provide top-down services for uncontrolled airfields in Germany but will provide coverage for IFR arrivals and departures. Identical to real life the reception of München Radar on the ground and at low altitudes is usually bad to impossible and therefore flights often depart VFR and perform an IFR pickup or cancel IFR inbound to land VFR.
IFR departures still have to contact München Radar for their enroute clearance if BayreuthBamberg Information is offline but an Approach or Center is covering the area top-down (check vatsim-radar.com). If voice contact is not possible please use text via private message or depart VFR.
Parking Positions
There is one main apron in front of the terminal and tower as well as several smaller aprons in front of the multiple hangars.On the main apron is the single parking position for aircraft larger than code letter A called "main stand" with two smaller numbered stands 1 and 2 opposite to the main hangar. Several other small parking positions, and hangars with small aprons are situated all over the airfield east of the runway but have no specific names apart of the Hangar West.The fuel station is situated on the southern side of the main apron.The rescue helicopter Christoph 20 (CHX20) has its base at the airport in front of the Hangar West.tba

IFR Departure
Takeoff
Since BayreuthBamberg is uncontrolled, the AFISO won't issue a takeoff clearance. Instead, takeoffs are conducted at pilot's discretion. However, you might be assigned a release window during which you have to depart (inform ATC immediately if you are unable to depart within this window). IFR departures enter controlled airspace when passing 1000 ft AGL.
Auto-handoff
BayreuthBamberg utilizes an auto-handoff procedure for departures; the AFISO will not hand off departures to the approach controller. The current airborne frequency will always be given by the AFISO.
Report passing 26001800 ft to BayreuthBamberg Information and contact München Radar on 129.525 (or applicable) after departure!
IFR Arrival
STAR
Arriving into Bayreuth is rather straight forward - thereThere are threeno STARSTARs entriesfor viaBamberg. theAll fixesinbounds LONLI from the nortwest, KULOK from the northeast and ANELA from the southwest. You can alsoshould plan ana arrival DCT of uproute to 30waypoints nmANELA butor should expect to be cleared onto at least part of a STAR anyway. All STARs lead to the waypoint VADKOSULUS, which isare the initial approach fixfixes for the RNP approachapproaches to runwayrunways 06.03 and 21. Tactically the controller might also offer you a direct into the arrivalapproach procedure via one of the QDxxxQAxxx waypoints - you are expected to continue the procedure from this waypoint onwards untilif cleared for the initial approach fix.approach.
Approach
BayreuthBamberg has an RNP approach onlyapproaches for both runway 06directions andwhich are limited to aircraft performance A and B. In case runway 24 is in use, expect to perform the RNPThe approach runway 06 followed by visual circling to runway 24.21 Theis circlingusually haspreferred due to benoise performed north of the aerodrome only and is not to be confused with the traffic circuit on the same side. There is a restriction for maximum 250 KIAS below FL100 as you will be in airspace class E. This means you should also stay on the lookout for VFR traffic unknown to the controller.
Landing
The AFISO will provide neither sequencing nor separation. It is your responsibility as the pilot to coordinate with other traffic on frequency. IFR has no priority over VFR.
You will not receive a landing clearance as the airport is uncontrolled. Landings are conducted at pilot's discretion.
VFR
Airspace
The BayreuthBamberg RMZ extends from ground level to 1000ft AGL (ca. 2600ft1800ft MSL) and airspace E around the RMZ is lowered to 1000ft AGL. All aircraft have to announce themselves on BayreuthBamberg Information when entering the RMZ, as well as when exiting it and must maintain at least listening watch for the entirety of their stay within the RMZ. VFR traffic should avoid the IFR approach and departure sectors.BayreuthBamberg has threetwo published traffic circuits - one for gliders in the northsouth and twoone for other traffic in 1700 ft MSL on boththe sidesnorth side of the field, each in 2500 ft MSL. The usage of the northern (motor) traffic circuit is permitted only with prior approval of the Flugleitung.field.
Klinikum Bayreuth
The Klinikum Bayreuth is situated within the RMZ Bayreuth. Helicopters arriving and departing the hospital have to adhere to the procedures of the RMZ Bayreuth. Helicopters MPW 6500 kg, N49°56.66' E011°32.13', elevation 422.8 m (1387 ft), departure directions 090°/270°, arrival directions 150°/330°, TLOF = FATO 15 x 15 m. Only approved for operation of rescue helicopters. No charts available.
