General
The areaArea controlControl centerCenter (ACC) position is responsible for controllingmanaging aircraft flying in the airspaceoperating within a flightFlight informationInformation regionRegion (FIR). TheACC controllers handle traffic across all altitude levels, from lower to upper airspace. Typically, the center receives aircraft from approach or neighboring ACC is controlling flights in almost every level, at lowsectors and highlater altitudes.hands Thethem Center typically accepts traffic from - and ultimately passes trafficover to - an approach/arrival positionunit or another ACC station.ACC.
Just as theLike TMA controllers, the ACC controllercontrollers hashave variousa toolvariety of tools at their disposal. They can use STARs,Standard Arrival Routes (STARs), transitions, and radar vectors to achieveensure thesafe necessaryseparation separation.between Toaircraft. Speed control is commonly applied to maintain this separation, speedsand pilots are typicallyrequired used,to whichcomply with the pilotassigned must adhere to.
note, that above the conversion level (FL280) Mach Numbers will be used! speeds.
The work of aan centreACC controller cangenerally typically be dividedfalls into two types.categories: On the one hand, there is workoperations in what is known as lower airspace, and on the other, work in what is known as upper airspace.
Lower airspace and operations in upper airspace.
Lower airspace is typicallyusually characterisedcharacterized by manyfrequent climbing and descending traffic associated with TMAs. Upper airspace, by contrast, mainly consists of overflights with comparatively fewer climb and descend movements to and from TMAs. Upper airspace, on the other hand, is more known for overflights and a few climb and descenddescent movements.
