Registration Vatsim (EN)

Our world of flight simulation enthusiasts consists of many groups: from beginners who have just decided to dedicate themselves to this hobby, to well-trained experts who use the VATSIM network to indulge in their hobby almost like in real flight operations.

In between, there are many shades and forms. One of these is the pilot who has a good command of his simulator but essentially flies with simulator-generated traffic as well as ATC radio. His/Her goal is actually to fly in a simulator network, but s/he sees a major hurdle and lack of knowledge for him/herself. The new environment - ATC, radio, traffic, aerodrome, airspace structure - may also be frightening and s/he may be worried about doing something wrong and making a fool of himself.

We - VATSIM Germany - have set out to help them cross this threshold.

The purpose of this documentation is to describe the necessary steps for registration in the VATSIM network.

It is of course possible that you are already a member of VATEUD (the European organization) but not yet a member of VATSIM Germany. Depending on your current registration status, you can skip one or the other step. If you have not yet registered, simply follow this documentation step by step.

Registration VATSIM

You must have a VATSIM account to use the VATSIM network. If you already have a VATSIM account, you may skip this step.

Otherwise create a new account at https://my.vatsim.net/register. Enter your data as described (please do not use any invented names!) and use the following values.

1. Region: Europe, Middle East and Africa
2. Division: Europe (except UK)

After successful registration you should receive a so-called Vatsim-Id and a password by e-mail. You can use this to connect to the network with the pilot client or to log in to services that use Vatsim Connect.

  • If you have forgotten your password, you can reset it here.
  • If you have forgotten your Vatsim ID or e-mail or would like to change your details,  
        contact the Membership Support of VATSIM.
  • If you have not used your account for a long time, it may be inactive, you must reactivate it here.

Do not create a second Vatsim account! If you have more than one Vatsim account, your account will be suspended. Please contact VATSIM and VATSIM Germany Support.

VATSIM New Member Orientation Test

All members who have registered after 18 August 2020 must pass the New Member Orientation Test before they can fly on VATSIM. The necessary content can be found here.
After the time in the upper right corner of the Pilot Learning Centre has expired, the test can be started here.
  • The test is a multiple-choice test with 15 questions.
  • To pass, you must answer at least 80% of the questions (i.e. 12) correctly.
  • The test is limited to 15 minutes.
  • If you do not pass, take a look at what you did wrong. You can start the test again after one hour.

You can look at the training material during the exam

Upon successful completion, you will receive your P0 pilot rating and can connect to the network as a pilot!
