S1 Basic Lesson

Welcome to the S1 training in the RGFIR Frankfurt.Langen. To make your start easier, you will find our training plan (Curriculum) on the following pages.

To start as a controller and achieve your S1-Rating you are required to participate in a S1 Basic Lesson. These lessons are held about once a month and will be announced in a separate thread in the "Flugsicherungsakademie Langen" Forum. The number of participants is limited to 15 persons and will be assigned on a "first come, first serve" basis. So keep an eye out for the thread in the forum.

Please refrain from posting training requests in other threads.

Before the lesson, you should set up your Euroscope and Audio for Vatsim accordingly. The setup instructions can be found below under "Requirements".

Requirements

• You signed up for an S1 Basic Lesson in our forum "Flugsicherungsakademie Langen". The lesson is held once a month
• You have downloaded and set up EuroScopeEuroScope. (please download the latest BETA version in the upper right corner). Instructions on how to set up the client can be found here
• You have downloaded the latest "EDGG Full_Package" AIRAC
• You have downloaded and installed the "Audio for VATSIM Standalone Client"
• You have downloaded and installed the Teamspeak Client. Instructions on how to set up the client can be found here

• Introduction to EuroScope
• Activation and explanation of the Tower Basic Moodle course
• Basic ground and tower introduction
• Introduction to VFR
• Phraseology examples

Procedure

• You take part in an S1 Basic Lesson
• You complete and pass the Basic Tower Moodle course
• You apply for your S1-ATSimTest in Moodle.
• You complete and pass the S1-ATSimTest
• You apply for your S1 rating in Moodle
• You take and pass the SOP test of an airport of your choice (EDFH, EDDR, EDSB, orEDFM, EDFM)EDLW, EDLP, and EDDG).

Exam Retake

If you have failed an ATD Exam in the Moodle course, please contact the LeadCoT Mentor.in charge of S1 training. He will unlock you for a second attempt after you have studied again. If you do not pass the second attempt, you will have to attend the next lesson and your progress will be deleted. Remember that the tests are open-book, you are allowed and asked to look in the provided documents and use search engines while doing the test.

If you want to continue your training, please apply for ana onlineground trainingendorsement at EDDSEDDF, EDDK, or EDDL after a minimum of 10 hours in our forumforum. Alternatively, you can complete your training in EDSB or EDLW.

Once you are on the waiting list, we still expect you to continue controlling. When it is your turn to start further training you must have controlled at least 10 hours in the last two months.

The S1 Minor endorsement can be revoked at any time by the lead mentor or the RG leadership.
