EDDF - Ground

Frankfurt Ground is responsible for traffic on taxiways R, S, U, T (south of M), Y5 and Y (south of Y4). Taxiway M can be delegated to Ground as well after coordination with Tower.

Taxiway R should primarily be used eastbound and taxiway S westbound, regardless of the active runways. During low traffic or to solve conflicts, exceptions are possible.

Outbound Traffic

Outbounds from the south side

Outbounds are handed over from Apron to Ground short of S.

25C/07C: Outbounds from the southern apron towards the center runway should cross the runway at R5 (for RWY 25C) or R15 (for RWY 07C). During LVO, no traffic should cross an active runway, therefore outbounds should taxi via T/U (for RWY 25C) or Y (for RWY 07C).

Traffic crossing the southern runway shall be handed over to DFTS if staffed, otherwise DFTC.

RWY 18: Outbounds towards runway 18 should be asked if they are able for S/M intersection. However, if they require full runway length, they should taxi via Y and hold short of Y4 if there is conflicting traffic from TWY M on Y10. Otherwise, they should hold short of L. However, they block the extended centerline of RWY 25C when they hold short of L. Therefore, preplanning and coordination with tower / west apron may be required.

Outbounds from the north side via U2

Ground will receive outbounds from the northern apron for RWY 18 intersection S short of stopbar U2. Further taxi will be issued via U - S. Explicit crossing of stopbars U2 and U6 is required.

Frankfurt Ground: DLA3WA, cross U2 and U6, taxi via U and S to holding point runway 18.

Depending on the inbound traffic for runway 25L/07R (there should be no opposite during taxi) further taxi via M can be used to save time.

Taxiway S is not available between S11 and S25 in older sceneries!

Inbound Traffic

Handover by Tower

Inbounds landed on RWY 25L/07R towards the south side will be sent from DFTS to Ground short of R. Analoguously to taxiway L, traffic is possibly not fully clear of the runway. Therefore, it should be treated with priority or another handoff procedure should be coordinated. During low traffic and if coordinated, inbounds can stay on tower frequency until they are sent to apron.

Handover to Apron

Traffic for the southern apron is handed over short of the apron entry (S4 - S21) on taxiway R or S, clear of any conflicts. When traffic is handed over to Apron, it is "released" and Apron can issue further taxi via the planned entry. Coordination is required if the entry needs to be changed after Apron has received the inbound.

Apron can label the requested/deviating entry within the remarks (e.g. ".S9").

Apron will inform Ground prior to handoff when inbound traffic has to wait, e.g. due to pushbacks in the yard or coordinate a different entry. Ground might adjust taxiroutings for other traffic.

Inbounds always have to be handed over to the correct Apron frequency in the southern part of the airport!

Inbounds from runway 07L/25R for the southern apron will be handed over to Ground short of U2. Taxiway Y should not be used for inbounds due to opposite outbound traffic.

Preplanning required! When unsure if inbounds can enter the Apron area without delay via R, coordination with Apron recommended or handoff shall take place on taxiway S.

Stopbars

Stopbars U2 - U8, T2 - T8, Y2 - Y12 and S40 close to the extended centerline are used to avoid conflicts between taxiing and arriving / departing aircraft. They can be seen on the Airport Chart and on the Euroscope Radar. Taxiway U should be used southbound and Taxiway T should be used northbound.

Stopbars at T and U: There must not be any traffic between T2 and T4 (RWY 25C) or T6 and T8 (RWY 25L) when there is landing traffic vertically above TWY T or departures out of 07C/07R still below 500ft AGL. The same applies for U2/U4/U6/U8.

However, there is one exception for U: Taxiing traffic with a tail height not greater than 11,81 m (all light and medium aircraft except A318 and B737 NG/MAX) may cross all stopbars at U independenly from arrivals if they are on a precision approach (ILS / GLS). This helps especially for traffic towards RWY 18 intersection S (see above).

Stopbars at Y: There must not be any traffic between Y4/Y10 and Y2 (RWY 07C) or Y6/Y12 and S40 (RWY 07R), when there is landing traffic vertically above TWY Y or outbounds runway 25C/25L still below 500ft AGL.

As a rule of thumb, the crossing clearance at a stopbar for may be given when the inbound is on minimum 4 NM final.
